INTRODUCING THE REFERRER’S GUIDE
This guide (and supporting website) has been produced to give information that is as accurate and up-to-date as possible.
It lists resources that can be accessed directly on behalf of clients who may need help with drug and alcohol problems and people affected by the drug and alcohol use of others.
A key objective of the guide is to get the right help to the right person at the right time, so please take the time to read it through thoroughly.
This guide will help you identify:
· The agency best able to help the person · The referral process of the identified agency · Whether the agency has a drop-in or appointment service · Where the agency is · When the agency is open
Before making a referral you may want to consider:
· What a specialist organisation can offer that you or your organisation cannot · Why such a referral may be a good idea · What support you can offer during and after the process of referral
The CDROM and website also contain important and useful information, including national and local guidelines, useful links to further information and specific information on Diversity and Involvement. To update entries to this guide or to order further copies please contact:
